I can’t tell you how many times over the years I’ve been asked to turn off the venue lights. Most times I don’t have control of the lights so I can’t do much, however the point is people prefer to dance when it’s not that bright. It is completely understandable, but there are some things to think about.
Though most dancers prefer dimmer lighting, or even no lighting (just colorful fun lights), sometimes litigating is very important for the photographer and videographer.
I strongly suggest speaking with your photographer and videographer about the lighting situation at your venue. Ask if they prefer the lights to be on or off during specific times. For example, the lights should be on during speeches because they can capture a much clearer shot of the person giving the speech as well as the crowd and the lovely couple.
